La Economía del bien común pretende implantar y desarrollar una verdadera economía sostenible y alternativa a los mercados financieros en la que necesariamente tienen que participar las empresas. Es presentada como una alternativa tanto al capitalismo de mercado como a la economía planificada.
Según Felber muchas constituciones y normas legales recogen el principio según el cual la actividad económica debe servir a los intereses generales y en general al bien común o bien público.
Este movimiento pretende poner en el centro de la economía a las personas y los valores que hacen florecer las relaciones interpersonales. La propuesta es cambiar las reglas del juego de «competencia-ánimo de lucro» a «cooperación-aporte al bien común» y se debe regir por una serie de principios básicos que representan valores humanos, tales como confianza, honestidad, responsabilidad, cooperación, solidaridad, generosidad y compasión, entre otros.
Para los defensores de la economía del bien común, aquellas empresas a las que guíen esos principios y valores deben obtener ventajas legales que les permitan sobrevivir, frente a los valores del lucro y la competencia actuales.

The common good economics seeks to establish and develop a truly sustainable economy and alternative financial markets that necessarily have to be involved companies. It is presented as an alternative to both capitalism like the planned economy.
According Felber many constitutions and laws reflected the principle that economic activity should serve the general interest and the overall common good or public good.
This movement seeks to put in the center of the economy to the people and the values that make relationships flourish. The proposal is to change the rules of the game of «competition-profit» to «co-contribution to the common good» and should be governed by a set of basic principles that represent human values, such as trust, honesty, responsibility, cooperation, solidarity, generosity and compassion, among others.
For advocates of the common good economy, those companies that guide these principles and values should obtain legal advantages that allow them to survive, against the values of the current profit and competition.

Pour les défenseurs de la bonne économie commune, les entreprises qui guident ces principes et valeurs doivent obtenir des avantages juridiques qui leur permettent de survivre, contre les valeurs de bénéfice courant et la concurrence.

Diese Bewegung soll im Zentrum der Wirtschaft zu den Menschen und den Werten, die Beziehungen gedeihen machen gestellt. Der Vorschlag ist es, die Regeln des Spiels von «Konkurrenz-Profit» zu «Co-Beitrag für das Gemeinwohl» und sollte durch eine Reihe von Grundprinzipien, die menschliche Werte wie Vertrauen, Ehrlichkeit, Verantwortung, Zusammenarbeit darstellen geregelt werden, Solidarität, Großzügigkeit und Mitgefühl, unter anderem.
Für Befürworter der gemeinsamen gute Wirtschaft, die Unternehmen, die führen diese Grundsätze und Werte sollten rechtliche Vorteile, die ihnen das Überleben ermöglichen zu erhalten, gegen die Werte der aktuellen Gewinn-und Wettbewerb.
